I write about how to create games worth your time.
What exactly will you read here?
Games are unique beasts that merge different aspects of entertainment, art, sports, technology, science, and many more, including life itself.
That’s why I believe that when talking about how to make games, we should pursue inspiration from different areas - like psychology, history, or literature.
Why “break the loop”?
Loop is a well-known term in game design that describes a sequence of actions that a player does over and over again.
Explore → Fight → Loot —> Repeat
You may say that every game is a set of loops.
But what if you break the loop and go further?
I believe that games aren’t just a set of repeatable actions and those experiences get us somewhere. It’s not a loop, it’s a journey.
Who am I?
I’m a game designer who currently works on Frostpunk 2.
Previously I worked on 911 Operator (a game about managing emergency services), Hellcard (a co-op roguelike deckbuilder), and a few other games (if you are curious check it here).
I especially admire games that tell meaningful stories by their systems.
